NMAMLD 2022, the second edition of the International Symposium on Nonlocal Mechanics Approaches for Modelling Localized Deformations, was held at the Indian Institute of Technology Hyderabad on 7–8 June 2022. Organized by Prof. Amirtham Rajagopal, IIT Hyderabad, with Dr. Basant Kumar, ASL–DRDO, the symposium brought together researchers, engineers, scientists, and graduate students from academia, research laboratories, defence organizations, and industry. The two-day programme featured distinguished national and international experts, notably Prof. J. N. Reddy and Prof. Arun Srinivasa from Texas A&M University, USA; Prof. Erdogan Madenci from the University of Arizona, USA; Dr. Pablo Seleson from Oak Ridge National Laboratory, USA; Prof. Noël Challamel from the University of South Brittany, France; Dr. Ali Javili from Bilkent University, Turkey; Prof. Liqun Tang from South China University of Technology, China; and Prof. Prakash Thamburaja from the National University of Malaysia. The symposium covered advances in nonlocal and non-classical mechanics, peridynamics, nonlinear analysis, elastic–plastic modelling, fracture and damage mechanics, phase-field methods, multiscale modelling, and applications in defence and aerospace engineering. With 50 participants from leading institutions and organizations in India and abroad, NMAMLD 2022 further strengthened the platform for exchanging emerging ideas and advancing research in localized deformation modelling.
